Easy to get started

We needed a Cloud Configuration Pentesting for our AWS setup. Scheduling a demo was pretty straightforward, and then getting the actual pentest started took maybe a week after that. The platform was fine, nothing complicated. Got the reports we needed. It was a decent experience overall.

Generally positive, one small snag

We went with Cobalt for a Comprehensive Pentesting and it mostly went well. The Security Researcher Access was helpful for direct communication, and the Jira Integration worked seamlessly with our development workflow. The Pentest Reports were thorough and professional. My only minor critique is that the initial setup for integrating with our specific SDLC tools took a bit longer than I anticipated. It wasn't a huge deal, but something they could probably streamline a bit more. Overall, a solid service and good value.

Does Cobalt offer a free trial of their platform? Or do you have to commit to something to even see how it works?

I don't think they do a full free trial, but you can usually get a free demo to walk through the platform and see it in action.

No free trial in the traditional sense, like an app you just download and use for a month. But they're usually happy to show you exactly how everything works on a call, and they might have specific limited-time offers if you ask.

Yeah, retests for verified fixes are generally included. It's part of how they make sure everything's buttoned up.

My understanding is that if it's for issues found in the original pentest and you've patched them, they'll retest those specific findings for free to confirm. If you're talking about a whole new pentest for new features, that's different obviously.

You'd have to talk to their sales team directly. They don't do promo codes like a regular e-commerce site. I got a small break by bundling a few services together after a call with them.

From my experience, once you get through the initial setup/scoping, they can usually kick it off pretty fast. Like, days, not weeks. Depends on how complex your project is, too.

They're all pre-screened and have to meet certain experience levels and qualifications. It's not like a completely open bug bounty platform where anyone can just sign up and start poking around. There's a quality control layer there.
